WHAT DOES NOT: RAW (HEROES)

19 Sep 2024 18:30
Location: The Ministry - Full building takeover

WHAT

The Ministry welcomes back the badass ladies of What Does Not for another takeover of culture, connection and cool. Born from one woman’s itch for collecting stories and speaking to strangers, RAW is a first-of-its-kind event, and London's first listening night. Described as 'one of the best nights in London', RAW listening nights blend culture, connection and cool in some of London’s hottest venues. Centred around uncensored storytelling by everyday people, paired with live music and art, September’s RAW on the theme of HEROES dives into the admirable and flawed world of heroism.

Every RAW centres around uncensored storytelling by everyday people, paired with live music and art – curated around a chosen theme. Taking over a different slick venue every time, RAWs adapt to the space and can be intimate affairs of 100 people, to a microfestival of 350 people – with food pop ups, makers’ markets, screenings etc. Why the theme? It filters the spectrum of human experience, bringing into focus our shared humanity.

If you missed the last micro festival edition, this is your chance to join the club of good humans.

Full Schedule coming soon.

Far from looking for the same old hero-worship, we’re diving into the murky waters where capes and halos meet flaws and fumbles. Together, we’re flipping the on what it means to be a hero and diving into what it means to be human today. Where do we find inspiration? Moral guidance? Identity? And motivation to change? From the knight in tarnished armour to the Mundane Maverick, who have been the heroes and anti-heroes in our lives? Because let's face it, the world’s a mess, and our shiny, perfect heroes aren’t cutting it. It’s time to celebrate the real champions and the beautifully flawed who actually make a difference in our lives and our communities. Because sometimes, the line between hero and antihero is where the magic happens.
